LESCO Protected And Non-Protected Tariff 2025 – Updated Electricity Rates for Residential Users

Electricity prices change every few months and many LESCO customers do not know whether they fall under the protected or non-protected category. This affects the bill amount directly. In this guide, I am sharing the updated LESCO tariff slabs including the 200-unit rule, TOU rates and protected customer conditions. All details are taken from the official LESCO PMDU chart so you can clearly understand your correct electricity rate.

In this guide, I will clearly explain who is considered a protected customer, who falls in the non-protected category and what electricity tariff slabs apply in each case. This information is taken directly from the official LESCO notice!

Who Is a Protected Customer in LESCO?

A customer falls in the Protected Category if:

  • Their meter type is NON-TOU meter.
  • They consume 200 units or less per month, continuously for the last 6 months.
Lesco protected consumers details

If a customer crosses 200 units in any month, they will no longer be counted as protected and will automatically shift to the Non-Protected Category according to the official policy.

Who Is a Non-Protected Customer?

A residential consumer will be counted as Non-Protected if:

  • They consume more than 200 units in any month.
  • Their consumption pattern does not match the 6-month condition of the protected tariff.
  • Their meter is TOU (Time of Use).

Non-protected customers have higher tariff rates because they fall outside the subsidized slabs.

Why Understanding Protected & Non-Protected Categories Is Important

By knowing whether you are a protected or non-protected customer, you can:

  • Save money by keeping your consumption under 200 units.
  • Understand which tariff applies to you.
  • Manage your electricity usage better.
  • Plan your monthly budget more accurately.

Many customers do not know that even one month above 200 units can shift them out of the protected category.

FAQs

A protected customer is someone who uses 200 units or less every month for the last six months and has a non-TOU meter. Such customers get lower electricity rates.

If a customer uses more than 200 units or if their TOU meter is installed, they become non-protected and are charged higher tariff rates.

To stay in the protected category, your electricity usage must stay below or equal to 200 units for six continuous months. If you exceed 200 units even once, the protected slab is removed.

For smart meter consumers, TOU peak hours cost 41.89 Rs/unit, and off-peak hours cost 35.57 Rs/unit.

The lowest slab is the Lifeline 1–50 units, charged at 3.95 Rs per unit (only for protected customers).

These updated electricity tariff slabs are officially issued by LESCO and they apply to all residential consumers in Lahore and surrounding areas. If you want to stay in the protected category, keep your monthly electricity usage under 200 units continuously for six months. Staying informed about your tariff category helps you manage your bill and avoid sudden increases. For accurate billing, always check your LESCO bill online using your reference number.
