ABC Cable Installation in Chunian Division

Lahore: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has successfully completed an important electricity system improvement project in Farzand Nagar village, near Tibba Fateh Muhammad Kalan, which comes under Kanganpur Sub-Division of Chunian Division. This development is part of LESCO’s ongoing efforts to modernize power infrastructure and improve service quality for consumers in semi-urban and rural areas.

Under this project, 125 meters of Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) have been installed to replace conventional overhead wiring. ABC cable is considered safer and more reliable as compared to traditional bare conductors, especially in areas where electricity theft, line faults, and safety risks are common.

Purpose of the ABC Cable Project

The primary goal of installing ABC cable in the area is to:

  • Improve voltage stability
  • Reduce power interruptions
  • Minimize electricity theft
  • Enhance public safety

Residents of Farzand Nagar have long faced issues such as low voltage and frequent line faults. With this upgrade, consumers can now expect a more stable and uninterrupted electricity supply. Use lesco bill checker to view and download your bill.

Transformer Installation and New Connections

According to LESCO officials, the project was executed under LTP Reference No. 314-1735. As part of the same initiative, a 50 KVA transformer was installed and connected to the G.R. Singh feeder.

This transformer now supplies electricity to 22 new consumer connections spread across two spans, ensuring proper load distribution and improved system performance. The addition of new connections also supports future demand growth in the area.

Measures to Control Power Theft and Improve Safety

To further strengthen the electricity system and reduce losses, LESCO’s technical teams implemented several safety and anti-theft measures, including:

  • Relocation of all scanning meters onto electricity poles
  • Installation of protective strips on meters to prevent tampering
  • Complete covering of transformer bushings to avoid accidental contact

These steps not only help control electricity theft but also reduce the risk of electrical accidents, particularly for children and pedestrians.

Project Monitoring and Supervision

The project was closely supervised by senior LESCO officials to ensure quality standards and timely completion. The supervising officers included:

  • SE Kasur – Rao Kamran Shaukat
  • XEN Chunian – Mian Tariq Bashir
  • SDO Kanganpur – Osama Ameer Khan

Their supervision ensured that the installation work complied with LESCO’s technical and safety guidelines.

Statement from CEO LESCO

Commenting on the completion of the project, CEO LESCO Engr. Muhammad Ramzan Butt stated that the installation of ABC cables is a key part of LESCO’s long-term strategy to provide safe, secure, and uninterrupted electricity to consumers.

He emphasized that such projects are especially important for rural and developing areas, where modern electrical infrastructure can significantly improve quality of life and reduce system losses.

Benefits for Local Residents

With the completion of this project, residents of Chunian Division are expected to experience:

  • Improved voltage levels
  • Fewer power faults
  • Reduced risk of electrical accidents
  • Better protection against illegal connections

This project marks another positive step by LESCO toward strengthening the electricity distribution network and improving consumer satisfaction in the region.
